Mrs. Pretetia “ Tretia” Yvonne Dunlap

Obituary

Pretretia Yvonne Hicks (affectionately known as Tretia) was born in San Diego, California onMay 26, 1951 to James Chester and Ruby Jean Hicks.

Pretretia accepted Christ at an early age at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized by the late Rev. C. Johnson. She continued to serve faithfully under Rev. J. Linzie Whitmill until his retirement and then under Rev. Dennis Anderson until her passing.

Pretretia received her formal education in the local San Diego Unified School District,

Graduating from San Diego High School with the Class of 1969 and then taking courses at San Diego City College.

A few years later, Tretia was blessed beyond measure with the birth of her first child, a loving daughter, Myeisha Lobbins. Shortly thereafter, fate stepped in and she met and married the love of her life Drafton Dunlap in the year of 1973. Together they shared a wonderful life and the family of three soon became a family of five after her two sons Cedric and Terrell were born.

Tretia’s career path took her in many different directions. She worked at the U.S. Public Outpatient Medical Clinic for several years, and later dedicated 22 years of service unto the Kyocera Company as a lead assembler.

After retirement, she became an entrepreneur and started working for herself

as an award winning Avon Representative for over 50 years, achieving “Top Seller” status many times over while simultaneously, running her own private mobile boutique specializing in the African American Expressions of art, apparel and home goods.

She had a love for Bingo and other games of chance…you know what we mean!! She NEVER missed a Wednesday night at her favorite table!! Always willing to lend a hand between games, you could find her giving rides, checking in on the sick and shut in and running errands for others to help ease their burdens any way she could.

Anderson Ragsdale Mortuary and the Ragsdale Family held a special place in her heart. You could often find her volunteering there when called upon. Aside from her joyful spirit, her quick wit, and unique sense of humor, she had a genuine spirit of love and caring, as she never met a stranger. With a generous heart, she was a cheerful giver and would gladly share whatever she had to anyone in need.

The Lord saw Tretia getting weary and knew that her affairs were in order. On Friday

evening, May 16th, 2025, at 7:46 pm, He dispatched His angel to bring His child home.

Surrounded by her family, she answered the call. “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavyladen and I will give you rest.”

She was greeted at the gates by; her loving husband Drafton, Father; James, Mother; Ruby,Brother; Harold James and Nephew; Roberto McAllister, her Grandparents, as well as othersaints and friends.
