Kline A. Price, Jr., MD

Kline A. Price, Jr., M.D., passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at his home in San Diego, California, with his beloved wife, Bebe Roberta Drew, of 64 years by his side.

Kline lived a life defined by service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to both his profession and his family. He graduated from Howard University’s Mechanical Engineering and Medical Schools before becoming the first Black OB-GYN Resident at Georgetown University Medical Center.

Kline was a pioneering Black OB-GYN in Howard County, Maryland, and the first Black OB-GYN physicians to practice in Columbia, former President of the Medical Staff and Chief of the Department of OB-GYN at Howard County General Hospital. Kline’s leadership, clinical excellence, and dedication to patient-centered care left a lasting and meaningful impact on colleagues, patients, and the broader healthcare community.

Kline proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and The Boule’. His list of accomplishments is far and wide: Aero-Space Medical Research Lab – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Fellow American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Fellow American College of Surgeons, Fellow International College of Surgeons, Private Practice for 32 years, and served on Hospital and Insurance Boards.

His life reflected intellectual curiosity and a wide range of interests. He was a licensed pilot and a PADI-certified scuba diver. He maintained a deep appreciation for Civil War history and enjoyed activities such as archery and cruising up and down the Severn River and the Chesapeake on the Droopy II. Road travel brought him great joy, especially time spent in his motorhome, affectionately known as The Jolly Green Giant. He was also known for his collection of hats and t-shirts bearing names of colleges attended by his children and grandchildren.

Above all, Kline was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His marriage to Bebe reflected enduring love, partnership, and mutual respect. He is survived by his wife Bebe, four children: Kelly (Ron), Kline (Sandra), Kendall (Michelle), and Kathryn (Joseph); 10 grandchildren: Rachael (Luke), Nathaniel, Hawley, Frances, Lenore, Josephine, Augustus, Evelyn, Charles, and Zora; his brother, Hugh (Marilyn); sisters-in-law Charlene (DeMaurice) and Sylvia; and nieces and nephews: Ernie, Traer, Janeen, Lauren, Leslie, and Drew.

Kline will be remembered for his steady presence, intellectual depth, and dedication to family and service. The legacy he leaves endures through the lives he shaped and the example he set.

A Committal Ceremony will take place at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 1PM, where his life and service will be honored with dignity.

His memory will remain a source of strength, pride, and inspiration to all who knew him.
